The journey begins at Masterson Park in Burringbar and continues to Mooball Station.

Activity accessibility:
Our aim is to make the Rail Trail accessible and inclusive for everyone, regardless of ability. We encourage anyone with a disability to review our Access for All webpage, plan their trip in advance, and consider travelling with a friend, family member, carer, or supporter on their first visit.
Getting there:
The Cycling Without Age service begins at Masterson Park in Burringbar, located next to Burringbar Memorial Reserve and Masterson Park on Broadway. Burringbar Station is approximately 18 kilometres from Murwillumbah Railway Station, accessible by driving south-east along Tweed Valley Way.
Parking: Ample public untimed parking is available, with two designated accessible bays adjacent to the Rail Trail at Burringbar Memorial Reserve and Masterson Park, allowing easy access for users travelling along the sealed asphalt section that leads to Mooball.
Mobility:
The section of the Rail Trail between Burringbar and Mooball is a 2.15-kilometre stretch of sealed asphalt. Another sealed section runs from Murwillumbah Railway Station to the Tweed Regional Gallery. All remaining sections consist of a solid compact surface, which is suitable for mobility scooters and other mobility devices.
Travel Time: Walking from Burringbar Station to Mooball Station typically takes around 26 minutes, while cycling the same distance takes approximately 10 minutes one-way. These times are estimates; if travelling independently (i.e. without Cycling Without Age), please use your discretion and allow extra time for breaks or unexpected events.
Location markers: The trail includes location markers every kilometre, each with a unique code. They start with the letters “NRRT” followed by three digits, indicating the distance in kilometres from the trailhead at Murwillumbah Railway Station.
Mobility and Pathways: Concrete pathways link the trail to the existing public toilets at the Burringbar and Mooball townships.
Assistance Animals: Assistance animals are welcome on the Rail Trail, in line with the trail rules requiring all dogs to be kept on a short lead at all times. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs.
Rest stops: There are rest stops with shaded seating and water available along the trail at Burringbar and Mooball.
Accessible toilets: An accessible toilet is available at Burringbar Memorial Reserve, Masterson Park on Broadway, and at Mooball. However, as these are heritage or older facilities, they do not comply with current Australian Standards for disabled access and mobility and may not be fully accessible for people with disabilities. We recognise that this presents a challenge for some members of the community in accessing and enjoying the trail, and we are committed to making access improvements as funding becomes available.
