Stotts Creek Tip weighbridge

Stotts Creek Resource Recovery Centre (the tip) accepts:

  • general solid waste
  • construction and demolition waste
  • asbestos
  • a range of recyclable items
  • problem waste.

Please note asbestos is not accepted on weekends or after 2:30 pm on weekdays.

At various times throughout the year, mulch and crushed concrete can be purchased from Stotts Creek Resource Recovery. Please be aware that:

  • mulch is currently unavailable
  • crushed concrete is available.

Council does not currently provide a public weighbridge service. Contact the National Measurement Institute on 02 6213 6000 or find your local public weighbridge online.

What can I take to the tip for free?

Free recycling and problem waste drop off

  • Paint (up to 100 L)
  • Fluro globes and tubes
  • Car batteries
  • Household batteries
  • Motor oil (up to 20 L)
  • Mobile phones
  • Other oils (up to 20 L)
  • Smoke detectors
  • Selected ink cartridges
  • Xrays
  • Chemicals (Monday to Friday, 7 am to 3 pm)
  • Home office electronics
  • Computer and accessories
  • TVs
  • Hot water systems
  • Metal machinery

Our recycling and problem waste service is for Tweed residents (you need to show ID with your name and address). Additional fees may apply to people who live outside of our shire and businesses taking loads to the tip.

Normal hours of operation are:

  • Monday to Friday: 7 am to 3:45 pm
  • Weekends and public holidays: 9 am to 3:45 pm
  • Good Friday and Christmas Day: closed

Environmental monitoring

Council monitors surface water and ground water at its landfill sites on a quarterly basis. It’s a requirement under the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 that this is made public.
