TRAC will reopen some facilities with precautionary measures in place

Tweed Regional Aquatic Centres (TRAC) will reopen to the public on Monday 1 June 2020, with a focus on health and safety for swimmers and staff.

In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) emergency and the NSW Government’s announcements to ease restrictions, Tweed Regional Aquatic Centres is opening some pools with precautionary measures in place.

The TRAC Kingscliff outdoor pool will open to the public with a maximum of 10 people in the facility. A booking system has been established to assist with meeting these requirements. Swimmers wanting to visit the Kingscliff pool must book a ticket online prior to attending the facility. Opening hours will be Monday- Friday 5.30am-6pm, Saturday 5.30am-12pm and Sunday 9am-12pm.

Restrictions have also allowed the Murwillumbah indoor 25m pool to reopen for squad sessions only, with a maximum of 10 people in the facility. Squads will run on Monday to Saturday mornings and Monday to Thursday afternoons. Squad bookings can be made by phone Monday to Friday 9am-3pm on 02 6670 2750. The Murwillumbah outdoor pool will remain closed for winter, as per normal.

The South Tweed facility will remain closed due to current restrictions on indoor facilities and while important maintenance works are completed.

Acting Director Sustainable Communities and Environment Stewart Brawley said he welcomed the NSW Government’s announcements on the relaxation of restrictions for some community facilities including pools.

“The community can be assured that Council is working to ensure all facilities are safe and viable for our customers when they can return and we look forward to welcoming them back,” Mr Brawley said.

“Thank you to everyone for being patient and understanding while waiting for TRAC's community facilities to safely reopen to visitors and staff.

“Safety is our priority and a number of our visitors, staff and volunteers are vulnerable, so we are putting measures in place to keep them as safe as possible.
