Council appoints new Director Corporate Services

Warren van Wyk is Tweed Shire Council’s new Director Corporate Services.
Mr van Wyk comes to the Tweed with a strong local government background, having worked with both Redland City Council and Logan City Council over a combined period of 19 years.
Before emigrating to Australia, he was Manager Integrated Development Planning at the City of Cape Town in South Africa.
His experience includes senior roles managing strategic projects, corporate planning, performance and risk, corporate governance, community and customer services and innovation.
Mr van Wyk is already settling into his role at Tweed Shire Council after commencing on Monday 18 November.
Council’s General Manager Troy Green welcomed Mr van Wyk as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team.
“Warren was appointed following a highly competitive recruitment process and we are fortunate he decided to swap states to join us,” Mr Green said.
“The diversity of his previous roles in local government will equip him with the skills and experience necessary for the challenging Corporate Services role.”
Mr van Wyk’s Corporate Services portfolio includes: human resources, work health and safety, risk management and insurance, communication, customer experience, corporate relations, audit, administration, governance, finance, revenue and recovery, information technology, geographic information systems (GIS) and the Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework.
“I am really excited to join Tweed Shire Council and look forward to actively working with stakeholders to deliver results for the wonderful Tweed community,” Mr van Wyk said.
