Don’t miss the free masterclass for Sustainability Award entrants

23 August 2019

Make sure you enter now as nominations close on 2 September

There is now an extra incentive to nominate for the inaugural Tweed Sustainability Awards – a free one-day masterclass to further develop local environmental champions.

Dynamic sustainability leader Sandi Middleton will guide participants through activities to strengthen their environmental leadership skills and work together on building and enhancing new or existing environmental projects.

The day will be structured around three key themes:

• Going within – who am I, what feeds and nurtures my passion about sustainability, what skills do I already have, how can I become a more effective leader/follower/collaborator?

• Stepping up – sharing skills, learning new ones relevant to their project and identifying areas of overlap where new collaborations could occur.

• Stepping out – how can you be more effective in the world? Investigating communication and influencing skills.

To enter the awards and join the free masterclass, you can nominate yourself, your school, a local business, farmer, building project, club, group or event that is helping to protect and enhance the Tweed’s beautiful natural environment.

Mayor of Tweed, Councillor Katie Milne, encourages entries from across the Tweed.

“There are so many wonderful people doing incredible work to improve our internationally-significant environment and combat climate change,” Cr Milne said.

“We want to thank them all - farmers, schools, businesses, individuals and families - and share their stories to encourage and inspire others.

“The free masterclass now scheduled for all those nominated will provide a great way to support our sustainability leaders, provide opportunities to meet each other, collaborate and further develop much needed environmental leadership skills,” she said.

“It doesn’t matter how big or small your sustainability initiative is, every nominee will qualify for the masterclass so get your nominations in as soon as possible.”

There are three award categories, and you can nominate for one or all three:

• Regenerative Agriculture Award

• Wildlife and Habitat Conservation Award

• Tweed Sustainability Award

There will also be an opportunity for the community to vote on their favourite entry via the people’s choice voting.

Nominations close at 4pm on Monday 2 September 2019 and award winners will be announced on Friday 15 November 2019.
