A special Mother’s Day memorial service will be held at Tweed Valley Cemetery in Eviron on Friday 10 May at 11am.
All are welcome to attend the combined memorial service by Murwillumbah Churches Together and Tweed Valley Cemeteries.
Pastor Bob Spence will lead the service and said an important part of the ceremony is to allow people to reflect on the lives of those that have passed on.
“A lot of it comes out of personal experience. I lost a daughter at 30 and I thought for many years that I wouldn’t be a person that would grieve a lot, but I would be driving my car and the next thing I knew I would burst into tears.
“It’s good for people to know that somebody cares and to have an opportunity to talk and be comforted by others,” he said.
“This is a safe place for people to come to help deal with their grief as well as an opportunity to sing and celebrate the lives of friends and family.
“To me this is an important community event which brings people together and shows them that deep down it’s great to be able to share how they feel with others.”
Light refreshments will be provided.
