Accessible toilets to open at Budd Park

07 June 2017

New fully-accessible public toilets will be open at Murwillumbah’s Budd Park from this Monday (12 June).

They will replace the existing toilet block, which has served the community for more than 35 years but has reached the end of its lifespan.

The old toilet block will be closed from Monday and will be demolished next month to improve the park’s amenity and provide a safer and more functional open space.

“Its removal will enhance the gateway to Murwillumbah by providing clear views to the river for people driving into town,” Council’s Acting Manager Recreation Services, Matt McCann, said.

“Opening up the space will also improve public safety, by allowing better surveillance of the park, and create an even better area to host larger community events.”

The new two-cubicle toilet block meets all requirements for accessibility for people with wheelchairs or limited mobility and is located immediately next to the accessible parking spaces.
