Council and contractors are currently undertaking two programs of work in Tumbulgum over the next 10 weeks.
Council has commenced work at the southern intersection of Riverside Drive and Tweed Valley Way, Tumbulgum. The works will consist of reconstructing the sheltered left turn lane to improve safety at this intersection. The upgrade work is scheduled for five weeks and is being funded by Roads and Maritime Services as part of the Blackspot Program at a cost of $250,000.
Over a five year period, there have been eight injury crashes at this intersection. The Blackspot works at this location will greatly assist motorist’s vision as they turn in to or out of, or approach this intersection.
Upon completion of the intersection work, road rehabilitation will commence on Riverside Drive as part of Council’s Road Infrastructure Program at a cost of $260,000. Weather permitting; this work will take a further five weeks to complete.
Road closures and detour via the northern entrance to Riverside Drive will be in place for periods of time and some delays can be expected.
Motorists are required to obey all road signs and traffic control instructions. Some delays can be expected over this time. Council apologises for any inconvenience caused.
