Mt Warning and Tomewin Roads closed as too dangerous

Council contractors working to stabilise and make safe today

Council has closed Mt Warning and Tomewin roads as the flood damage has left them in a dangerous condition.

Motorists are strongly urged not to travel both these roads until Council has undertaken assessments and repair.

Council contractors will begin work to stabilise Mt Warning Road today, which is badly damaged just past Mavis’s Kitchen.

The urgent repair work is expected to take about two days. Vehicles will not be allowed through the section but pedestrians will be able to walk under the escort of traffic control staff but should expect to have to wait a while to be let through.

Tomewin Road is closed between Garden of Eden Road and the Queensland border and neither vehicles nor pedestrians can pass through.

Council contractors also are working on the damaged section today but as yet the likely time to make safe is unknown.
