Applications for Tweed Shire Council’s 2023/24 Events Sponsorship funding round are now open.

Event organisers are encouraged to consider applying for funding, with Council supporting a range of events including sport, food, music, community and the arts.

During the 2022/23 financial year, recipients of the funding included Bowls Queensland, Caldera Environment Centre, Clay without Borders, Cudgen Headland SLSC, Murwillumbah Community Centre, NX Sports, Surfing Australia, Tweed District Orchid Society Inc, Tweed River Agricultural Society Inc, Tyalgum Music Festival and the World Surf League.

A total of $95,300 was distributed to these organisations, with a similar amount set aside for the 2023/24 financial year.

Mayor of Tweed Shire Chris Cherry said event funding opportunities like these helped to build a vibrant, thriving community which helped to bring people together after some tough years.

“As part of the community and Council's vision for the Tweed, we want our region’s people and places to thrive,” Cr Cherry said.

“Council is committed to developing and supporting events that are significant to the Tweed and fit in with the character and aspirations of our beautiful Shire.

“These events build stronger networks and allow us to showcase the Tweed but also really enrich the fabric of our community.”

Applications must be from an incorporated body or have a sponsor that is accepting legal and financial responsibility for the event.

Applications close midnight Friday 21 July 2023 and will be considered at Council’s meeting in September.
