Council will temporarily close a number of its facilities and services from tomorrow in keeping with the NSW Government’s latest COVID-19 restrictions for the Tweed local government area (LGA). Stay-at-home orders were introduced for the Tweed and Byron LGAs from 5pm today for seven days due to an increased COVID-19 public health risk. These stay-at-home orders also apply to anyone who has been in the Tweed or Byron LGAs since 18 September.
As a result, Council will shut its customer-facing facilities including:
Essential services including water and kerbside waste collection services will operate as normal. Stotts Creek Resource Recovery Centre (the tip) is open to people permitted under the Public Health Order to use it. Visitors must observe COVID Safe practices such as masks and QR check in.
Council is well prepared for COVID-19 and our staff are available to help with any queries. Call our Contact Centre Team on (02) 6670 2400, or email us on tsc@tweed.nsw.gov.au. Any issues can be reported online via our Report a Problem webpage or direct message us on Facebook.
Everyone in the affected LGAs must stay at home unless it is for an essential reason, which includes shopping for food, medical care, getting vaccinated, compassionate needs, exercise and work or tertiary education if you can’t work or study at home. People who are fully vaccinated can attend an outdoor gathering of up to 5 people for exercise or outdoor recreation, as long as all of those aged 16 or older are fully vaccinated.
