Council’s new website has welcomed more than 20,000 unique visitors in its first 2 weeks.
Launched at the start of the month, the fresh new look is already proving popular with residents, visitors and businesses.
Improvements include a new search tool, easy to read content and the site being mobile-friendly so it looks great on all devices.
Director Corporate Services Warren van Wyk said Council undertook a number of focus groups before the new website went live.
“To make sure we are meeting the needs of our community, the digital team held workshops with residents, ratepayers, industry representatives and Council’s Equal Access Advisory Committee to gain feedback on the changes,” he said.
“We were very pleased to receive an overwhelmingly positive response – particularly on the crisp new look of the website and its easy-to-navigate interface.”
So far, the top 5 most visited pages on www.tweed.nsw.gov.au are:
- DA Tracker
- Jobs and vacancies
- Tweed Link
- Contact us
- Mapping and zoning
Another handy new feature is the What’s nearby? mapping tool. This innovative addition allows anyone to find out what’s in their area - including parks, sports fields, boating facilities and roadworks - simply by entering their address or location.
“It’s been fantastic to get messages from the public to say they ‘love’ the new website – because it was designed with our residents at its heart in order to make information much easier to find,” Mr van Wyk said.
“The new search tool and overall layout will also help to highlight to the wider community the breadth of services Council delivers – from dealing with pest insects and emergency planning to providing laboratory and testing services.”
Residents can submit feedback on the new website by emailing webmaster@tweed.nsw.gov.au – this will help Council’s digital team to continue to improve the site now it is live.
Later this year, Council will conduct a short survey to capture further community feedback and measure how the site is helping residents find the right information.
The website will also be assessed against nationally-recognised plain language standards to ensure information is accessible and easy to understand.
