Tweed Seniors Festival, the biggest celebration of older people in the Tweed, is almost here!
From Monday 3 March until Saturday 16 March the festival will feature an exciting program of over 40 unique events designed to promote wellbeing, community connections and celebrate the invaluable contributions of seniors across the Tweed.
From creative workshops and cultural experiences to social gatherings and physical activities, the festival offers something for everyone. The festival will begin with a huge opening ceremony on Monday 3 March at Tweed Heads Civic & Cultural Centre Auditorium, which will include the announcement of the winners of the Local Achievement Awards.
Each year the awards celebrate seniors in our community who have gone above and beyond to help make the Tweed a diverse, active and inspiring place to live. The ceremony is a free event and open to the whole community. It is hosted by Council and this year, MCed by Chris Watts, Manager of Tweed Meals on Wheels. The event will include performances by professional Dancers from Danceland Tweed Heads and traditional old-time music via the Fiddle Faddle band.
Guests at the ceremony will be treated with a delicious complimentary morning tea prepared by the Tweed Hospital Auxiliary. Before and after the ceremony will be information about local services such as Council’s range of community programs for older people. Tweed Seniors Festival aligns with the NSW Seniors Festival, the largest event of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. This year’s festival theme is ‘Time to Shine!’, For the full Tweed Seniors Festival events program, visit the Tweed Shire Council website.
