Reducing energy costs is a major factor to ensuring business success.

Tweed business now can take advantage of the NSW Energy Saving Scheme by installing energy efficient products.

The Energy Saving Group (ESG) has established operations in Tweed Heads and has been helping local businesses cut their power costs by installing energy saving fittings and products.

Energy Saving Group Project Manager Rachel Meghan Walsh said through measures such as upgrading lighting and water heating, businesses were eligible for energy saving certificates and carbon reduction verifications.

“We work with local electricians and plumbers, and we are committed to and support the sustainability of our Tweed community,” Rachel said.

“This means that Tweed clients see familiar faces and can trust us in understanding of their local needs.

“The ESG has been operating around Australia since 2006 and ensures we have the best products suited to your projects and programs.

“We both work with energy savings certificate providers to ensure your energy certificates and carbon reductions are verified rapidly and accurately so that the costing of your projects is minimised, and you can quickly track the saving and environmental benefits to your programs.”

Energy saving measures available to businesses include replacing old electric hot water tanks with energy efficient heat pumps which use approximately 70% less energy than standard electric boilers, replacing fluro lighting with LED lighting which uses 66% less energy than its fluro equivalent.

"The old fluro battens which use 72w are removed and replaced with LED battens which use 24w. There is also the provision of energy saving fridges for food retailers.

“The energy saving certificates produced and the incentive schemes that are available help in covering the cost of quality products, meaning a saving in both energy and money,” Rachel said.

“Locally we having installed energy saving products for motels and hotels, retail outlets, automotive operations, food outlets, community facilities in Tweed Heads, Murwillumbah, Chinderah and Cabarita beach. We even assisted the Tweed District Rescue Squad at Chinderah.”
