Last days of Photovoice exhibition
14 December 2023
An important disability pride exhibition at Tweed Head’s Library has been extended till this Friday the 15 December.
Photovoice, is a unique collection of photographic works taken by people with disability in the community who have worked to capture their experience of the world.
The artists featured in the exhibition have participated in Disability Pride Photovoice - a project designed by our partners, Social Futures, where participants are asked to explore the concept of disability pride through the art of photography.
Over 5 weeks, participants are asked to connect with overarching themes to help them express how they feel. Themes such as inclusion, courage and pride are then used to create visual works.
Tweed local, Chris Erickson (pictured) is an ambassador for the Photovoice project and has now featured in the exhibition 3 times.
To view Chris's work and others on display, head to Tweed Heads Library, Brett Street Tweed Heads until 5 pm this Friday.
You can also watch an inisghtful video featuring Chris, which explains the importance of the Photovoice project and the creative process involved.
This project is just one of many that showcases the collaboration of our Community Wellbeing team, Richmond Tweed Regional Library and our community partners.
We work together to advocate for and share the experiences of people with disability in the community in order to promote diversity and inclusion across the region, and beyond.
