Opera Australia bring Barber to the Tweed
03 August 2022
The Murwillumbah Theatre Company is giving opera lovers an amazing opportunity to enjoy Rossini's The Barber of Seville performed by Opera Australia in Murwillumbah.
The opera company, one of the world’s busiest, will perform the famous production in Council's Murwillumbah Civic Centre Auditorium on Tuesday 16 August 2022 at 7:30 pm.
It will be the first major opera production held in the auditorium since its $2.5 million refurbishment.
Opera Australia is doing a national tour this year with The Barber of Seville and one of the attractions of this travelling opera is the Regional Children’s chorus which enables children all across Australia to take the first steps on their own special journeys with opera.
Vicki Armour from Murwillumbah Primary School will be the music educator training the choir for this area.
The Barber of Seville pops with lyrical acrobatics and irrepressibly funny characters. Rossini’s most famous ‘opera buffa’ is a comic musical masterpiece with a storyline that would be equally at home in a Hollywood rom-com.
Opera Australia’s finest voices and a live orchestra deliver a score that is instantly familiar from movies, cartoons and commercials.
Delight in a riotous romp along the road to true love! This is opera at its light-hearted, effervescent best.
A must-see if you love: Downton Abbey, Sliding Doors, clever disguises gone wrong and a case of mistaken identities.
There will be 20-minute interval with refreshments available and a licensed bar. The opera is sung in Italian with English surtitles and performed with a live Chamber Orchestra. For enquiries, phone 0439 834 684.
Tickets are already selling fast for this great opportunity, so don’t miss out! Available via trybooking.com, visit the Murwillumbah Theatre Company's website for more information.
