The community are invited to a tree planting event at Travis Campbell Park at Eungella on Sunday 25 September from 10 am to 2 pm. The tree planting along the banks of the Oxley River aims to stabilise the riparian zone and improve habitat for fish and local fauna.

The banks of the Oxley River have become overrun with weeds such as madeira vine, morning glory and Singapore daisy. This project will replace weeds by planting hundreds of native trees, shrubs and groundcovers along the riparian zone.

This tree planting will improve habitat for Australian bass, and the threatened pale-vented bush hen that nests in this location. The Oxley River is prone to flooding, and these activities will help to stabilise a section of steep riverbank.

The event is hosted by OzFish Unlimited Tweed River Chapter, alongside Tweed Landcare, Tweed Shire Council, Friends of Travis on the Oxley, and Tweed Bait.

Registration is essential and lunch will be provided. Find out more and register online
