Sunday 5 March is Clean up Australia Day! For 30 years now, this day has inspired and empowered communities to clean up, fix up and conserve our environment.

More than 20 million people have been a part of Clean Up Australia Day activities and events since 1989 – and this year, after a year off due to flooding - we want the Tweed to have its biggest day yet!

By being part of a clean up event you are doing your bit to positively impact the local community and push the message that we must reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill, not just on the day, but every day, 365 days a year.

Council’s Resource Recovery Education Officer Dominique Pomeroy is part of the team supporting the event this year.

“Council is proud to be a supporting Clean Up Australia Day 2023.  This is an opportunity for our community to work together, taking practical actions to improve our beautiful environment.” she said.

"Getting involved makes a real difference to the increased pressures on our environment and the ever-growing volume of waste leaking into it.”

To get involved you can register a new clean up or join an existing event by searching for clean ups happening in your local area.

If you take some pictures on the day, we'd love to see them! Send them through to tsc@tweed.nsw.gov.au telling us where you were and we'll share them.
