It might seem a little strange to talk about saving water when we experienced the worst flood in our recorded history just 6 months ago. Yet water is a precious resource and we are all caretakers.
Even when there are no water restrictions, Council asks everyone who lives, works and visits the Tweed to meet Target 160 litres.
In recent weeks, we’ve done a terrific job. Our average daily water use reduced to between 150 and 160 litres per person.
Head to our Target 160 litres page to work out whether you are meeting the target. You will also find tips on saving water indoors and outdoors.
By pulling together to save water, we reduce our impact on the natural environment and maintain the quality of life we all live for and enjoy.
Target 160 litres also makes it easier for us to adapt to water restrictions when they are introduced.
Another way to reduce your environmental impact is to receive your rates and water notices by switching to email.
Say goodbye to the postie. Sign up for eNotices now.
Also consider joining us for the Water Night challenge on Thursday 20 October.
The challenge is to stop yourself from using running water from 5 to 10 pm on the night and instead use prefilled water bottles and kettles for all your household needs. The use of running water for health and hygiene reasons is still permitted.
Sign up for Water Night by heading to waternight.com.au
On the night, chat online with Gardening Australia’s Costa Georgiadis and thousands of people throughout the country and learn some new ideas for saving water in the garden, bathroom and kitchen.
Share your Water Night experience on social media using the hashtag #lifeineverydrop.
