Flood restoration. Pavement repair and patching near the intersection of Brays Creek Road and Byrrill Creek Road. Commencing 10 February for about 2 days, weather permitting. Works hours 8am to 4pm. Traffic controllers operating. Expect minor delays.
Road rehabilitation along Tweed Coast Road between Hastings Road and Towners Avenue.
The detailed design for this major project has been finalised and Transport for NSW (TfNSW) have recently approved funding for the project. The works have been tendered and currently being awarded.
Byrrill Creek Road and bridge design has progressed well with the project recently approved for funding by TfNSW. Works are expected to start in the coming months.
The construction start date is being confirmed but aiming for the coming months. Works are expected to take approximately 3 months, and closures of the road are expected between 9 am and 3 pm.
As part of our commitment to provide a safe and connected local road network, we will soon start road rehabilitation works along Tweed Coast Road, between Banksia Avenue and the northern end of Cypress Crescent, Cabarita. Under our Road Rehabilitation Program, we will be replacing existing pavement as it has reached the end of its service life.
At this stage, night works will be Sunday to Thursday, from 6 pm to 5 am, weather permitting.
What to expect:
- The affected section of Tweed Coast Road will be closed one lane at a time during work hours. Traffic approaching the closed lane will be detoured through Hastings Road.
- Changed traffic conditions with traffic controllers guiding traffic flow during work hours.
- Expect delays of up to 5 minutes.
- Reduce on-street parking during work hours.
- Limited access to some properties and driveways within the work zone during work hours. Please ask the traffic controller for help if you need access.
- Pedestrians can use footpaths on site, unless directed otherwise.
Please alternative routes where possible or allow additional time for your journey.
Shoulder grading on both sides of the road between Cudgen Road and Morton Street. Expect brief traffic delays.
Flood restoration. Patch and repair of approach to Rous River bridge. Commencing 10 February for 2-3 days. Traffic controllers operating. Work hours 8am to 4pm. Expect minor delays.
Flood restoration. Road patching. Commencing 10 February 2025, between Chilcotts Road and North Arm Road until 14 February. Work hours between 8am and 4pm. Traffic controllers operating. Expect minor delays.
Private works.
To install a tower crane, a section of Marine Parade will be temporarily closed, between Kingscliff and Turnock Street.
What to expect:
- Detour via Pearl Street will be in place.
- Work hours are from 3 am to 9 pm.
- Temporary road closure may cause short delays.
- Please do not use on-street parking during work hours.
- Limited access to some properties and driveways within the work zone during work hours. Please ask the traffic controller for help if you need access.
- Please use alternative routes where possible.
Works delayed, awaiting additional resources.
Asphalt replacement on Pearl Street between Kingscliff Street and Turnock Street. Daily from 6:30 am to 4:30 pm.
Temporary road closures and detours during work hours, which may cause delays of up to 5 minutes.
As part of our Footpath Rehabilitation Program, we'll be upgrading the footpath along Commercial Road, between Hartigan Street and Elizabeth Lane.
Work hours will be from Monday to Friday, 7 am to 5 pm. Works may need to be conducted some Saturdays, between 7 am to 1 pm.

Access routes will remain the same except when crews are working on James Street. During those times, there will be no entry to James Street from Commercial Road.

There may be lane closures and lane narrowing, which may cause brief traffic delays. Traffic controllers will be in place to direct traffic during work hours.

On street parking will be unavailable in the work areas. The work will be done in sections, so not all parking areas will be blocked at once. Please avoid parking near barricaded areas during work hours.

Pedestrian access through the work site will not be permitted. However, the work will be completed in sections and only the section being worked on will be barricaded.
To continue to provide the Tweed with safe, sustainable and affordable wastewater services, we will be upgrading a sewer pump stationat the north end of Harwood Street in Murwillumbah, near Willward Park, next to Brothers Leagues Club.
Preliminary works are expected to begin in May/June 2025, followed by construction, which will take about 8 weeks, weather permitting.
Works will take place Monday to Friday, from 7 am to 6 pm. Some work may also be needed on Saturdays, from 7 am to 1 pm.
What to expect:
- Limited access to some properties and driveways within the work zone during work hours. Traffic controllers will be available to assist with access.
- Restricted public access to areas within Harwood Street Reserve near the pump station.
- Pedestrian detours or restrictions. No pedestrian access through the work site. Pedestrian movement may be directed or restricted.
- Continued access to carpark.
Please use alternative routes where possible.
As part of our Footpath Rehabilitation Program, we'll be upgrading the footpath along Wollumbin Street, between Brisbane Street and Factory Lane.
Work hours will be from Monday to Friday, 7 am to 5 pm and possibly some Saturdays, between 7 am to 1 pm.
- Access to some shopfronts may be temporarily restricted. We’ll do our best to maintain access and if your business will be affected, our project team will contact you directly.
- There may be lane closures and lane narrowing, which could result in traffic delays of up to 2 minutes. Traffic controllers will be in place to direct traffic during work hours.
- Some car parks will be unavailable in the work areas. The work will be done in sections, so not all car parks will be blocked at once. Please avoid parking near barricaded areas during work hours.
- Pedestrian access through the work site will not be permitted. However, the work will be completed in sections and only the section being worked on will be barricaded.
- Some public parking bays near the KFC area will be used as laydown areas during construction.
- Some trees within the work zone may need to be trimmed.
For essential sewer repairs, Basalt Lane in Tweed Heads South will be temporarily closed during work hours. Weather permitting.
What to expect:
- Work hours will be between 7 am and 7 pm
- Laneway will be closed.
- Businesses will be able to enter and exit under instruction from onsite traffic controllers.
- Limited access to some properties and driveways within the work zone during work hours. Please ask the traffic controller for help if you need access.
- Changed traffic conditions with traffic controllers guiding traffic flow during work hours.
- Please use alternative routes where possible.
To continue to provide the Tweed with safe, sustainable and affordable wastewater services, we will be upgrading a sewer pump station about halfway along Sunshine Avenue in Tweed Heads South.
Preliminary works are expected to begin in May/June 2025, followed by construction, which will take about 3 weeks between term 2 and term 3 school holidays, weather permitting.
Works will take place Monday to Friday, from 7 am to 6 pm. Some work may also be needed on Saturdays, from 7 am to 1 pm.
What to expect:
- Temporary lane closures for the duration of the works, which may cause delays of up to 5 minutes in peak traffic periods.
- Limited access to some properties and driveways within the work zone during work hours. Please ask the traffic controller for help if you need access.
- Please do not use on-street parking during work hours within or near the work zone.
- Changed traffic conditions with traffic controllers guiding traffic flow during work hours.
- No pedestrian access through the work site. Pedestrian movement may be directed or restricted.
Please use alternative routes where possible.
Water main upgrade along full length of Inlet Drive and Lakes Drive (between Gollan Drive and Inlet Drive).
There will be temporary lane closures which may cause delays of up to 5 minutes.
Work hours are from Monday to Friday, between 7 am and 5 pm.
There may be short interruptions to the water supply. You will be notified separately before this occurs.
There will be limited access to some properties and driveways within the work zone during work hours. Please ask the traffic controller for help if you need access.
There will be no pedestrian access through the work site.
