As part of our commitment to delivering a safe and connected local road network, we are upgrading the Leisure Drive, Greenway Drive and Darlington Drive intersection in Banora Point.
This project is being delivered in 2 stages – see work zones map below:
- Stage 1, located at sites 2, 1, and 5 on the map below, was completed in February 2024. This stage included relocating services (such as gas, telecommunications, and water), realigning kerbs and gutters, widening the road, and modifying underground drainage.
- Stage 2, located at sites 3 and 4 pm the map below, will include the installation of a signalised pedestrian crossing, kerb and gutter works, stormwater drainage modifications and pavement widening
The road, drainage, kerb, verge, footpath, bus stop, and light pole relocation works have been completed.
Crews finished the sealing works in late February, and since then, the project has been temporarily on hold while we await approval from Transport for NSW to proceed with the construction of the traffic signals. During this period, there has been minimal disruption to the community, with traffic continuing to flow freely in both directions.
Once approval is received, crews will begin trenching, signal installation, and final concrete works. Additionally, adjustments to pram ramps at the Leisure Drive roundabout and installation of pedestrian fencing will take place. Final asphalt works and line marking will be conducted at night. The remaining works are expected to take about 9 weeks to complete.
