Sports field bookings and licences
Council sports fields are available for hire.
Local sports clubs have seasonal licence agreements to use the fields within specific hours, usually weekends and evenings, leaving the fields available for casual hire to the community outside licenced hours.

Who can hire a sports field?
All community members are welcome to apply to hire a Council sports field. This includes schools, Government agencies, sporting and activity groups, and general community.
Fields can be used for organised commercial, or informal sporting activities, such as gala days, carnivals, coaching clinics, tournament days or training.
How much does it cost?
Information about current fees and charges are available on Council's fees and payments page. Alternatively, search for 'sports grounds' in fees and charges online.
There is no fee for schools from within Tweed Shire when using sports fields within school hours during NSW school term times. Fees apply for casual use outside these times.
Applicants must provide proof of public liability insurance (Certificate of Currency), with minimum cover of $20 million, to hire a sports field.
How do I apply?
- Call Council’s Parks and Active Communities Unit on 02 6670 2400 to:
- check availability of the sports field
- obtain contact details for the seasonal license-holding sports club
- make a tentative booking prior to submitting an application.
- Contact the relevant sports club to discuss the event, ensure there is no conflict with their planned activities, and arrange access to amenities.
- Submit an online application – there are 2 different application forms; one for schools and Government agencies, the other for casual users.
