Vic Bianchetti Sports Ground car park upgrade

Picture22.jpg

We’re enhancing the resilience of the access road and car park at Vic Bianchetti Sports Ground to improve their ability to withstand future floods and ensure that all visitors can easily access the sports facilities, including the clubhouse and fields.

The upgrade will feature a new asphalt car park with drainage improvements at the entrance off Kyogle Road. We will also add one accessible parking space and implement minor drainage improvements closer to the clubhouse.

Project Schedule

  • Planning: Mid 2024
  • Demolition: Late 2024 to Early 2025

What’s involved

  • New asphalt car park and improved entrance off Kyogle Road
  • One accessible parking space
  • Minor drainage improvements to prevent water pooling, including a new culvert and table drain at entrance
  • Concrete edging around the perimeter of the car park
  • Informal parking will still be permitted on grassed areas

Why it's happening

Severe weather and flooding in 2022 caused substantial damage to the internal access road and carpark, severely damaging the road surface and causing road subsidence.
