Barrie Smith Fields grandstand upgrade
Council is upgrading the grandstand at Barrie Smith Fields. The renovation will incorporate flood-resistant materials and design features to help mitigate the impact of future floods. Key aspects of the project include ensuring structural integrity, replacing or modifying handrails, and waterproofing the bench seating.

What’s involved
- Works to ensure structural integrity
- Clean, repair and repaint the grandstand
- Replace handrails
- Replace the flood impacted benches with flood resilient materials
- Remove and replace the corrugated iron panels on the side of the grandstand (funding dependent)
Why it’s happening
Severe weather and flooding in 2022 caused substantial damage to the grandstand.

Budget: $79,200
Jointly funded by the Australian and NSW Governments.
